Kazan Cathedral, located in Saint Petersburg, Russia, is a major Russian Orthodox cathedral built in the early 19th century and inspired by St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome. It was constructed to house the revered icon of Our Lady of Kazan, one of Russia’s most venerated icons. The cathedral also became a symbol of Russia’s military triumphs, particularly after Napoleon’s defeat, and serves as a center for worship, national pride, and Orthodox tradition, featuring grand colonnades and richly decorated interiors.
