Martin of Braga was a 6th-century monk, missionary, and bishop who helped convert the Suebi people of northwestern Iberia from Arian Christianity to orthodox Christianity. Born in the region of Pannonia (modern-day Hungary area), he traveled widely before settling in Galicia, where he founded monasteries, became Bishop of Braga, and played a major role in strengthening Christian learning and church organization. He wrote sermons, moral teachings, and guidance for clergy, making him one of the most influential church leaders in early medieval Spain and Portugal. He is remembered as a saint, teacher, and defender of orthodox Christian faith.
